LevelFields News
These guidelines describe the standards that govern reporting, editing, and publishing at LevelFields News. They apply to all staff writers, editors, freelance contributors, and anyone whose work appears under our masthead.
1. Transparency and Authorship
Readers should always know who wrote what they are reading and who stands behind it.
- Every article carries a byline with the author's name, as well as their role and areas of coverage.
- Each article displays the original publication date and, when materially edited, a clearly labeled "last updated" timestamp.
2. Original Reporting
We publish original news, analysis, and commentary produced by our staff or commissioned contributors. We do not republish, scrape, or lightly rewrite content from other outlets.
- Aggregated stories must add meaningful original reporting, context, or analysis.
- Primary sources are credited and linked whenever possible.
- Direct quotations are reproduced accurately and in context.
3. Accuracy and Verification
Accuracy is the foundation of our work. Speed is never a justification for publishing what we have not verified.
- Factual claims are confirmed against at least one primary source before publication.
- Social media content is verified before being treated as reported fact.
- Anonymous sources are used only when necessary, and the reason for granting anonymity is explained to readers.
- Statistics, studies, and data visualizations link to their original sources.
4. Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it openly.
- Substantive corrections are made promptly and noted with a dated correction notice at the bottom of the article.
- Minor copy edits (typos, formatting) may be made silently.
- We do not delete published articles to hide errors. Articles withdrawn for legal or ethical reasons are replaced with an editor's note explaining the removal.
- Publication dates are not refreshed unless the story has been substantially updated with new reporting.
5. Separation of News, Opinion, and Case Studies
Different types of content serve different purposes, and readers deserve to know which they are reading.
- News articles are reported and edited to be factual and impartial.
- Opinion, analysis, editorials, and reviews are clearly labeled in the headline area and on category pages.
- Sponsored content is not allowed.
6. Disclosure
Conflicts of interest and financial relationships are disclosed to readers in the article itself.
- Writers disclose personal, financial, or professional relationships relevant to a story. Anyone with a material conflict does not cover that subject.
7. Use of AI
Artificial intelligence tools may assist our work, but they do not replace human judgment or reporting.
- Reporting, sourcing, and editorial decisions are made by humans.
- AI may be used for research assistance, transcription, copyediting, headline testing, or production tasks.
- Articles generated primarily by AI are disclosed to readers.
- AI-generated images or media are labeled as such.
8. Prohibited Content
We do not publish:
- Hate speech or content that incites violence or harassment against individuals or groups.
- Sexually explicit material or gratuitously graphic violence.
- Content that promotes or facilitates dangerous or illegal activity.
- Demonstrably false information about elections, public health, or other topics where misinformation causes serious harm.
- Content that impersonates other outlets or individuals, or misrepresents the source or ownership of the work.
- Headlines that materially misrepresent the article they accompany.
10. Reader Feedback and Complaints
Readers can report errors, complaints, or concerns by contacting support@levelfields.ai. The editor on duty acknowledges submissions within 7 business days and responds substantively as soon as a review is complete.
