Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced that it has been selected for design oversight and construction oversight contracts on the estimated $1.1 billion to $1.4 billion John A. Blatnik Bridge replacement project.

Parsons is a technology and infrastructure company serving national security, transportation, cyber, space, missile defense, water, environmental, and critical infrastructure markets.

Contract Expands Parsons’ Role on Major Infrastructure Project

The John A. Blatnik Bridge connects Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, over the Port of Duluth-Superior.

Parsons previously provided preliminary engineering design for the bridge replacement and will now continue its work through design and construction oversight.

The project is being led by the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation and will be delivered through a design-build method beginning in fall 2026. Traffic is expected to open on the new bridge in 2031.

The existing bridge, originally built in 1961, carries an average of 33,900 vehicles per day on I-535 and serves as an important freight and commercial route between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Why It Matters

The project adds another large infrastructure win to Parsons’ transportation portfolio.

The bridge crosses active navigation channels, railroads, and city streets, making it a complex construction and oversight assignment. It also supports a key freight corridor tied to the Port of Duluth-Superior, the most inland ocean vessel harbor in the world and the terminus of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Parsons said the project fits its broader infrastructure experience, which includes more than 10,000 miles of roadways, 4,500 bridges, over 450 rail and transit projects, and more than 50 advanced traffic management system deployments.

The Bigger Picture

Parsons’ selection reinforces its position in large-scale transportation infrastructure.

This is not the full $1.4 billion bridge construction award, but design and construction oversight work tied to a major replacement project. The announcement still matters because it extends Parsons’ role on a high-profile, multi-year infrastructure program with public-sector backing and long-term visibility.
