Valaris Limited, the offshore drilling contractor, announced that its joint venture with Saudi Aramco, ARO Drilling, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mohamed Hegazi, effective immediately. This article will discuss Mohamed Hegazi's appointment as CEO of ARO Drilling, his previous experience, and his role in the company's future.
Before his appointment as CEO of ARO Drilling, Mohamed Hegazi served as CEO of TGT Diagnostics, a provider of wellbore integrity measurement solutions to the oil and gas industry. Hegazi joined TGT Diagnostics in 2012 as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director before becoming the CEO in 2015. Prior to TGT Diagnostics, Hegazi held various senior leadership positions at SLB, formerly Schlumberger.
Hegazi replaces Derek Kent as the CEO of ARO Drilling. Kent will retire following a handover period. Derek Kent has worked with Valaris and its predecessor companies for 25 years, holding various geographies and leadership positions. Valaris President and CEO, Anton Dibowitz, thanked Kent for his significant contributions to ARO since 2020, and wished him the very best for his retirement.
Dibowitz expressed his delight in welcoming Hegazi to ARO Drilling. Dibowitz said that Mohamed brings strong leadership skills, oilfield service and capital markets experience, and extensive knowledge of working in the Middle East. ARO Drilling is well-positioned with its 20 rig newbuild program to help meet increasing rig demand offshore Saudi Arabia, and Dibowitz looks forward to working with Mohamed as they chart the company's next chapter of growth and value creation.
